adidas Launches Single Shoe Service for People With Limb Differences
Share Post

adidas has unveiled a groundbreaking retail initiative designed to make its footwear more accessible to people living with leg limb differences. The new Single Shoe service lets customers purchase a single shoe instead of a pair — addressing a longstanding barrier for many who previously had to buy two shoes even when they needed only one.

Under the program, eligible customers can visit adidas’ own stores and buy one shoe for just 50% of the full‑pair price, significantly reducing both waste and cost for underserved consumers. The service has been live since 19 January 2026 and is now available in 22 European countries where adidas operates its own retail locations.

Inclusivity at the Core of Development

The idea for the Single Shoe service was shaped through direct collaboration with disability advocacy partners, including ParalympicsGB and creators of the documentary Rising Phoenix. These consultations ensured the initiative reflects real‑world needs of people with limb differences rather than theoretical assumptions.

This effort marks a practical step in adidas’ broader strategy to improve accessibility across its products and services. The brand’s recent inclusion initiatives also include adaptive basketball uniforms tailored for wheelchair and seated athletes and performance apparel designed for users with and without disabilities alike. An adaptive running shoe co‑developed with individuals with Down syndrome is also slated for future release.

Where the Service Is Available

The Single Shoe service is offered on all in‑stock footwear at adidas’ owned retail stores and outlet locations across Europe. Countries participating in the program include Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

It’s important to note that this initiative is currently available only in‑store at adidas’ own outlets; partner retailers and online purchases do not yet support single shoe purchases.
