The Government of India has finalised seven locations for its flagship PM MITRA (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Parks, aimed at modernising the textile industry and supporting weavers and textile businesses. This was confirmed by Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh in a written reply to Parliament.
The seven approved locations are:
Minister Singh stated that no additional sites are planned at present. The government’s current priority is the implementation of the approved parks, working closely with respective state governments to ensure timely progress.
These PM MITRA parks aim to bring together all parts of the textile value chain — from fabric manufacturing to apparel production — in a single location. This approach is expected to reduce production costs, boost efficiency, and attract investment.
The government is also continuing its support for the handloom and artisan sector. Several schemes provide weavers with assistance such as modern looms, raw materials, solar lighting, design support, and marketing help. Alongside, programmes like the National Handicrafts Development Programme and Integrated Textiles Programme help traditional clusters modernise and expand.
The announcement comes after the government’s Budget 2026‑27, which introduced a “challenge mode” programme for mega textile parks, encouraging states to compete for better infrastructure and investment opportunities.
About PM MITRA Parks: PM MITRA Parks are designed to be world-class textile hubs, integrating modern infrastructure with traditional textile clusters. They are part of India’s broader strategy to enhance textile exports, generate employment, and strengthen the domestic textile ecosystem.
