The Wool Research Association has taken a significant step toward reshaping the landscape of technical textiles through a new partnership with South Korea based Saehan Global Consulting Co. Ltd. The two organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that sets the foundation for a powerful Indo–Korean collaboration aimed at advancing next-generation sustainable fibres, with a sharp focus on the rapidly evolving Sportech segment.
This strategic pact brings together WRA’s deep research capabilities and Saehan Global’s international expertise to co-develop Hemp–Wool blended performance fibres. These fibres are engineered to offer durability, thermal comfort and environmental responsibility, qualities increasingly demanded in high-performance sports gear, outdoor fabrics and protective apparel. The partnership will also work on creating advanced textile structures and explore sustainable processing routes that reduce environmental impact while enhancing functionality.
Beyond material development, the agreement outlines knowledge exchange, joint research and technology transfer mechanisms that will help fast-track the commercial adoption of these innovative fibres. With the global Sportech market expanding at a rapid pace, the collaboration arrives at a crucial moment when brands and manufacturers are seeking greener alternatives without compromising on technical performance.
WRA views this alliance as a major boost to India’s ambition of becoming a hub for sustainable technical textiles. By connecting with international partners like Saehan Global, the organisation aims to accelerate breakthroughs that support long-term industry growth. The MoU reinforces WRA’s mission of delivering scalable, industry-ready and eco-conscious solutions for future textile applications.
As the partnership gains momentum, both institutions are confident that their combined expertise will open doors to new global opportunities and help define the next generation of sustainable, high-performance Sportech materials.
