What are major applications of the products you make?

Geo Source products are extensively used for Civil Engineering & Environment Engineering applications in ground improvements, drainage, filtration & protection works. Major Applications areas are Infrastructure (Roads, Highways, Anti Erosion Works, Railways, Airports, Tunnels, Landfills etc), Agriculture (Geo Bags etc). Geo Source has products for all major applications & sectors.

What are your major Non woven Geo Textiles Products used for several applications?

Geo Textiles: Geo Source makes high quality Non- Woven Needle-Punch Geotextiles using first grade Polypropylene (PP) & PET staple fibers in various GSM & Widths and used for various Civil & Environmental Engineering Solutions & Applications such as Separation, Stabilization, Filtration, Drainage, and Cushion. Geo Source Non-Woven Needle-Punched Geotextiles are made to resist ultraviolet deterioration, rotting, biological degradation, naturally encountered

basics, and acids.

Drainage: Geo Source GS-Drain products are specifically designed Geo-Composite used in Civil and Environmental engineering Applications majorly for their Drainage Capabilities. GS-Drain drainage systems are being increasingly used as a more effective and economic alternative to traditional granular based solutions. GS-Drain eliminates hydrostatic pressure by collecting and conveying groundwater to a drain pipe for discharge.

Anti Erosion: Geo-Synthetic textile family of products have proven techniques and products to protect and provide effective Erosion Control measures. Solutions include Riverbank Protection, Coastal Protection, Beach Nourishment and Restoration, Breakwaters and Groins & Ground Reinforcement of civil engineering structures such as reclaimed land & artificial islands.

Geo Source makes high quality Erosion Control Products for applications such as Embankment Protection, Scouring Protection & Protecting Coastal & Marine structures with the help of Geo-Bag, Geo-Tube, Mega Bags, Geo Cell, Sand Filled Mattress & Gabions. Non Woven fabric is converted into several forms such as Geo Bags and used for these applications.

Who are major consumers of your products in India and Overseas?

Major end users of our products are Water Resources Department of different state govts like Bihar, Assam, UP etc who use these products for their river projects. FREMAA (Flood and River Erosion Control Agency of Assam), a World Bank and ADB funded project and Brahmaputra Project are other major govt agencies. For these products India is a steady market to the tune of more than Rs 1000 Cr. Recently, a new tender has been floated by ADB to the tune of Rs 800 Cr. Mecaferri is one the major domestic clients.

Geo Source has 70% of its revenue coming from exports which it is getting from Middle East, USA, Canada.

What are the major issues you are facing regarding the supply for domestic market?

In India products are procured on the basis of GSM not on the basis of specifications. This results into use of low quality recycled polyester fibres by many suppliers to reduce cost. This results into quality of products going down significantly and longevity of the project also suffers. Also, in many cases the products specifications are not followed. Lack of Testing facilities is also a major concern.

Non congruence between BIS Standards and MORT Standards for specifications. BIS Standards need to be modified and should be in line with the industry requirements.

Which are the Raw Materials being used by you and what are the challenges you face with respect to procurement of the Raw Material?

Major raw materials are Polypropylene and Polyester. Procurement for Polyester is not an issue but availability of Polypropylene (PP) is a problem. There are not many quality manufacturers of PP and most of good PP is consumed by these manufacturers only. Also, there is lack of consistency in quality of the products. GEO Source mainly depends upon imports for PP procurement.

What is your current capacity and as you are going through expansion what will be your future capacity?

Present manufacturing Capacity is 330 MT/month and after expansion it will be 550 MT/month. Present Turnover is around Rs 60 Cr which is expected to go up to Rs 100 Cr after expansion.
