Deepti Maheshwari, a Textile Engineer from IIT Delhi joined hands with her father Mr. R.R. Maheshwari to set up Ace Nonwoven in 2014 and commenced operations of an air through bonded nonwoven plant in India in December 2016. This plant is the first of its kind in India,
producing nonwovens with this particular technology. R. R. Maheshwari in the past served as the business head of Ginni Nonwovens, a manufacturer of spunlace nonwovens and consumer wipes. On the other hand,Deepti Maheshwari with expertise in technical textiles and nonwovens was keen to introduce innovations in this domain to enhance the quality of the current range
of products along with the idea of taking advantages from the import substitution opportunities in this field. Ace’s plant with total capacity of about 3000 Tons/ Year, is located near Mumbai. It has been constructed with a focus on maintaining high hygiene standards, as emphasized by Deepti. The machinery and technology used in the plant have been sourced from reputable global suppliers. The new air through bonded line is equipped with inline cameras and metal detection technology. According to Deepti Maheshwari, many hygiene products currently utilize alternative materials that are not as efficient. Recognizing the superior properties of air through nonwovens, some baby and feminine hygiene brands in India have already started incorporating these materials into their products by importing them from Thailand or China. Although importing the material increases costs, it allows consumers to access superior products. The local production of air through products will contribute to elevating the performance level of domestically made products. Ace Nonwoven is also one of the largest exporter of ADL Fabrics from India. The majority of Ace’s production is targeted towards baby diapers and feminine hygiene applications in the acquisition distribution layer (ADL) and topsheet. When used as a topsheet, the product offers exceptional softness and provides a comfortable feel against the body and avoids rashes. In the ADL layer, it efficiently distributes and absorbs liquids, resulting in a significant reduction in product weight. Furthermore, Deepti Maheshwari highlights that there is a notable improvement in all performance parameters compared to conventional products. ACE Non Woven following their vision for Make in India, have also started the process for manufacturing SAP sheets which is a major component in making of Sanitary Pads and diapers at the same location. This would give them a leadership position in this category.
